Purpose:
To recognize the achievement of outstanding and exceptional Central/Eastern Wayne Alumni, staff and/or supporters who excel personally or professionally or as contributors to the Central/Eastern Wayne Community.
Nomination Criteria:
In order to be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame, a nominee must meet the following criteria:
A nominee must meet ONE of the following:
· Taught at Central High School or Eastern Wayne High School for a minimum of five (5) years and is currently retired/no longer there.
· Attended Central High School or Eastern Wayne High School.
· Served in other capacities within Central or Eastern Wayne High School or significantly supported the school from the community.
A nominee should reflect the following in their execution of their achievements:
· Demonstrated outstanding qualities of citizenship and have made significant contribution, not only to the school system, but to the community as well.
· Demonstrated qualities in a manner that inspired students and colleagues.
Nomination Categories:
A nominee may be nominated in the following categories:
· TRAILBLAZER LEADER – A person who has broken new ground, innovated, and/or disrupted the status quo in their chosen field of endeavor. A nominee in this category should have a compelling story of how they have boldly gone where no one has gone before and because of the nominee, something has forever been changed in a distinguishable, positive, innovative and hugely impactful way.
· COURAGEOUS LEADER – A person who has broken through significant barriers whether in society or in their chosen field of endeavor. A nominee in this category should have a compelling story of how they broke through barriers and, because of the nominee, something has forever been changed in a distinguishable way and others who have followed have had an easier path to forge.
· UNSUNG HERO LEADER – A person who leads by providing unwavering contribution to an effort that benefits many, yet the work may not be visible. Without their contribution, other achievement could not be as easily attained. An example might be a community servant who volunteers tirelessly toward an effort though they are not the recognized leader of the effort. A nominee in tis category should have a compelling story of how they serve and, as a result, something has forever been changed in a distinguishable, positive manner even if they serve in the wings or never received the spotlight.
· “CEW-COMMUNITY” IMPACT LEADER – This category is for leaders who have served as teachers, administrators, volunteers or boosters of CEW and are worthy of recognition because of the impact their service has made on students and the school community. A nominee in this category should have a compelling story of hw, because of their involvement with CEW, something in our CEW-Community has forever been changed in a positive, distinguishable and hugely impactful way.
Nomination Process:
1. Nominations may be initiated by members of the CEWA.
2. Once a person in nominated, if not inducted initially, their name will remain in the pool of nominees with no time limit.
3. Nominations may be submitted electronically or by mail. If using email, send it to : president@centraleasternwaynealumni.org with Subject: “Attention Hall of Fame Committee”. If submitting by mail, send to CEWA Hall of Fame Committee, P.O. Box 10603, Goldsboro, NC 27532.
4. Nominations are due by December 31st annually for the following year.
5. Nominations must include the following:
a. Completed nomination form
b. A written nomination letter suggesting the category the falls within and explaining specifically what distinguishes the nominee and why the nominee should be considered for the Hall of Fame.
The letter should also summarize the nominee’s educational background, personal or professional accomplishments, and community involvement. (Community service, awards & recognition, organizations, etc.)
c. At least one additional letter of support
d. A headshot of the nominee
Selection and Award Process:
The Hall of Fame committee will review nominations annually and select a maximum of five individuals to be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame.
Inductees will be honored as following:
1. Award recognition at the annual Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet
2. Recognition during Central/Eastern Wayne Alumni Parade
3. Recognition on the Alumni Website and in the annual Souvenir Booklet
4. Plaque and Medallion
5. Photo and write-up of all recipients in the local newspaper
